At Sandy Secondary School, our utmost priority is the health, safety, and well-being of every student. Everyone involved in the school, from staff and governors to volunteers, is committed to ensuring our students’ safety. We actively listen to our students and take their words to heart, striving for a positive and enjoyable school experience for them. Comprehensive training in Child Protection is provided to all staff, and students are educated on whom they can approach if they face any issues. Moreover, our staff is vigilant for signs of abuse and follows strict protocols, reporting any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Leads.
While our objective is to collaborate closely with parents and carers to help students flourish and positively contribute to the community, there are occasional situations where we might need to involve other agencies before reaching out to parents or carers. Sandy Secondary School rigorously follows the guidelines provided by the Central Bedfordshire Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB). As part of our commitment, we have a dedicated Safeguarding Team, including Designated Safeguarding Leads Mr A Rutter and Miss K Hayward, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer Mrs J Devereux, Safeguarding Governor Mr Ian Smith, and other key personnel.
For any queries or concerns regarding safeguarding and child protection, the school welcomes open communication. Additionally, there are resources available for parents, carers, and students to gain insights and knowledge about online protection for young individuals.
